We fear that Facebook has comandeered much of our time on the computer and thus woefully neglecting our website. So, for any that still do check this website from time to time, let us get you caught up to speed on the happenings in our lives the last few months.
We were blessed to once again not have a bad hurricane season! It was rather interseting not having the first day of school due to a tropical storm!! But that was the worse we saw here in Orlando. Something we thank God for!!
An exciting event for us was the birth of Lindsay's niece in August. Niki and family are doing fine. Oliver at times isn't sure what to make of his new little sister and has been known to sit on her head. But he was very concerned the other day when she was crying and let Niki know by saying "baby, cry. Karen, cry."
The fall months were busy for both of us as we worked in our prospective jobs. Things quieted down for Jon over Christmas but were even busier for Lindsay as she helped with the production of the first Christmas program at the school. In addition to helping direct the program, she also made some of the costumes for the four year olds to wear. It was the first time that she had sewn since high school/college.
A week before Christmas, Jon flew home to PA to be with his dad who had been hospitalized. Thankfully, the day Jon arrived in PA, Dad came home; Jon was able to help him out at home for a few days. Lindsay followed several days later after school finished. She drove up the coast with the help of her mom and sister Melody who flew down to Florida to help her drive up. It was a crazy time, to say the least!!!
We were so thankful to be able to spend both Thanksgiving and Christmas at home in PA with our families. We hadn't been able to do that since before we were married. Christmas rather a strange one this year due to the fact that Lindsay's grandfather's health started declining radidly . He had been struggling with pneumonia and congestive heart failure; a week before Christmas he was diagnosed with an advance stage of some form of lung cancer.
Lindsay's family flew to Maine Christmas morning (including Niki and her family who were home from Asia for a few weeks); Jon and Lindsay followed that night. What made the trip special was having the entire side of Lindsay's mom's family be all together for the first time in several years. There was a lot of laughter, tears and, of course, a LOT of photographs. There are three generations of "paparazzis" in the family.
We came back home to Florida on New Years Eve and started the year off working. Jon has worked every day since the first save one! The poor guy is exhausted. Lindsay has been busy teaching and watching her students grow!
This year is going to be a year of more changes for us, which we will post as we can. God has been working at changing our lives, again. Some change is good and easy and some hard and stretching. Thankfully, He remains faithful and we are looking forward to what He has in store for us in the next few months. We're really excited to share what that is when the timing is right!! So, keep checking back!!!
That's about it for now. More to come soon. Please feel free to email us or contact us through the website to see how we are doing in the meantime. God Bless!!! |
